Our Story: 30 Years ⁄⁄ 28 Trips

When Barb and I visited Aruba for the first time 25 years ago, it was Carnival and the parade went right past our hotel on the first night. The energy was unbelievable and everyone was so friendly and outgoing; right away we fell in love with Aruba. From then on, we began to visit Aruba every year to escape the winters in Colorado and have a couple weeks for just the two of us.

Now we come to Aruba to visit all the friends we’ve made. We’ve grown close to other couples who visit about the same time we do, as well as Ignacio Petersen, the bartender at the Manchebo Resort’s Pega-Pega Beach Bar. Over the years, he’s invited us to his house, and we’ve done the same, opening our doors to he and his family when they visit the States.  He’s the one who taught us to slow down, to not be in such a hurry. It really has helped us appreciate life more.
