Hip hop heavyweights, R&B queens and soul music legends all performed together during Memorial Day weekend in the biggest soul music event in the Caribbean, the Annual Soul Beach Music Festival, hosted by Aruba!
The popular Soul Beach Music Festival voted #1 “Caribbean Summer Festival” by Jetsetter Magazine as well as the #4 by USA Today readers’ choice “10 Best Caribbean Celebrations” celebrated its 15th anniversary on the One Happy Island. For this special edition Aruba unveiled a spacious new site at the Harbor Arena, which also offered secured paid parking and a taxi and tour bus drop off area.
Buleria, one of Aruba’s most popular local bands, were the opening act and the crowd loved it when they performed a Caribbean version of the popular song “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran and hit song “Uptown Funk” by Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson. Always keeping their service standards high, Aruba Tourism Authority hired local Aruban students to take surveys of guests' stay over experience and of course how they were enjoying the festival.
Sixty-two year old soul music legend and nine-time Grammy nominee Charlie Wilson gave a smashing two hour performance in which he not only changed his outfit at least four times (that tropical heat), he also let a man in the audience propose to his fiancée- to- be on stage!
Closing the Saturday night of Soul Beach Festival 2015 were multi-platinum hit makers Dru Hill and Cisco’s hit medley at the end of their show certainly was the cherry on top!
Sunday night’s scintillating main stage concerts featured Grammy nominated superstar Trey Songz and Grammy Award-winning songstress: Estelle.
Trey’s one hour show definitely was this year’s highlight! Besides causing the ladies to go absolutely crazy when he lifted up his shirt, he also “stole” the camera from the onstage cameraman to connect with some of the females in the crowd as he zoomed in on them. At the end of his show, he thanked Aruba extensively and commented on our beautiful beaches.
