Seriously, I've found that the best deals are often leaving/returning Tue-Thu, and obviously supply/demand keeps the prices higher during peak season.
If you own or rent timeshare you may be stuck flying during the more expensive periods, but if your accommodations and work schedule permit see if you can't alter your vacation plans to fall during a more favorable time.
