Hi,I have been going to Aruba since the early 1980's and continue about 3/4 weeks a year.When on vacation my husband and I do not drive.We feel keep the taxi drivers in business and we can relax.My complaint is I have been visiting many of the other islands in the last few years and as of three weeks ago none of the taxi drivers charge extra on Sat. and Sun. and holiday's. I also remember the $2/4 taxi ride which is now average in Aruba costs $12/$15 if a weekday. I take many many taxi's in each two week vacation.I wish they would realize they are hurting their own business.This spring about 16 of our group have decided to rent cars.Too bad if only that weekend extra charge wasn't happening.I have asked in the last 12 months at 5 islands while I took a taxi off cruise ships to check out islands a little more and not one taxi driver has ever heard of this except some said they know from customers that its an Aruba thing.
