I just enjoyed reading this post and am thinking... this is what my vow renewal is going to be like... and I've only been married three years (this March 17, we got married on the day that my husband's grandfather would have celebrated his 100th birthday, unfortunately he passed away at 98). My brother could not come, was to be the "padrino" (godfather - in papiamento, what you know as Best Man) and we postponed the blessing ceremony...
Ah well.
NOW: Congrats and
*May I suggest: a vow renewal at Coco Beach in the Colony in the afternoon, have the Briesen family prepare a toast and nice snacks, maybe even a BBQ?
!!!Try also Rev. Osborne, I also love his ceremonies!!!
*I once did photos for a couple who had a dear friend lead their vow renewals in the garden at the Marriott, we did sunset photos and they went off to dinner.
*Do a renewal on the beach at sunset, have snacks/early bird dinner at La Terraza on the terrace (contact Mitzy at 5836046 for a special menu) and head for partying to Sr. Frog's or Mambo Jambo. All walking distance from the Renaissance.)
Other interesting sites for a renewal: the watertank at Alto Vista at sunset, the view is also amazing, the Wilhelmina Park downtown Oranjestad, the palapa in front of the Governor's house in Oranjestad (the two last ones are at a stone's throw from your hotel.)
Happy organizing!
Margaret
