NO! Why tick off your "future wife" on your honeymoon? Besides the fact, besides the horror stories you have read, due to as you already know, the terrain in Aruba, there have been a number of accidents. A local was killed on one not so long ago.<<stepping of my soapbox  >>
Either rent a 4 x 4 SUV and tour the island on your own at your own pace or take any of the number of guided jeep tours. http://www.abc-aruba.com/ is just one which comes to mind.
