My wife and I spent two weeks at the Westin for our honeymoon in August 2006 and just went back to the Westin for a second honeymoon last month. They are doing some renovation ( an addition to the lobby area is presently under construction) but the room renovations appear to be complete. Service at the hotel is excellent. The pool area may need some updating but the Westin has the best beach area. Palapas on the beach have to be reserved and you must wait on line very early (7 am). You can now rent for a few days at a time for a $30 fee but waiting on line one or two days is not so bad as that early morning time on the beach is spectacular. I would recommend eating at Azull on the beach (Ask for Rudy or Rene) and Pago Pago in the hotel. If you venture out, Flying Fishbone has the most romantic setting. Make reservations for 6:00 and dine barefoot in the water while watching the sunset. If you like steak, you must go to El Gaucho.
You have made the right choice. I have been to Aruba two years in a row now and plan on returning for vacation each year. Something about the island.
