When my son was a youngish teen, he knew a line to quote from The Simpsons for almost any given situation. It got the the point that we would only allow him three Simpson quotes per day. However, I did feed his obsession by getting him this book:
The Gospel According to the Simpsons: The Spiritual Life of World's Most Animated Families. I read a little of the book (not a huge Simpson fan myself), and I found it entertaining and thoughtful.
As far as replacing The Simpsons with Baywatch, I agree with your sentiment, lou&nay...d'oh!!
