November 24, 2006, (day after Thanksgiving Day), I woke up and said to myself, "I will smoke no more". No meds, no gun, no therapist, nothing other than my determination. Also determine to not gain wait during this process (heard tales from others), I began regular exercising. I stayed away from beer and taverns for 6 months. Needed to keep temptation away. I did gain a significantly increased appetite for fine wine.

During the process a close friend who had quit some ten years back gave me this advice; Remember he said, "If you take just one puff, you didn't QUIT smoking, all you did is cut down". Repeating that to myself when the cravings came cut me through. I can honestly say it's ben some time since I had that internal desire for a smoke. That is a very good feeling.

Congrats on maiking the move and good luck in managing you desires. Quiting for one months is better than not quitting at all!
