Unhappy in case of rain or who knows what or why

in my many travels, (especially my trip to ireland) i've on a few occassions have gotten to my destination, and found that some of my clothes are wet and soiled. This could be because of rain in a connecting city (duh lol) or who knows what, (maybe the guy/girl working the luggage is having a bad day and throws your case on top of a puddle, I don't know lol) In any case when I went to ireland, I had a disaster on my hands with my clothes and my sons, what wasn't soaked with water and dirt was damp, and with Ireland being the way it is, needless to say it wasn't easy to clean those clothes and get them dry, (actually the cleaning wasn't a problem, it was the drying)

So I now pack lots of sealed plastic bags with my clothes in them to keep them dry and clean.

I also have learned a valuable lesson on bringing clothes in my carryon, as I've also had my luggage lost for more than 24 hours, I make sure at least two changes of clothing pr shoes/sandals and bathing suit are in my carry on as I got stuck in the bahamas two times without any of this, thank god I put a bathing suit in carry on, but not much of anything else. That is a lesson I will never forget, though I obviously did as the first time was probably 20 years ago, and had never had a problem until my trip in jan 07.

So get out those plastic bags and start packing, and ohh yes don't forget to put some snuggle dryer sheets in with them, keeps everything smelling great!!! And don't forget the underwear and couple of outfits in the carryon!!!! Hope my misfortune helps someone else!!!!
