eric, aruba is not afflicted with such filth and crime. the island is comprised mostly of american tourist - families and honeymooners. you hardly see singles there. it's not like cancun or cabo where you would have uncontrolled drunknesses on the streets. the locals are also very cordial and friendly to tourist. you don't have to worry about your safety.
