My kids (1.5 and 3) always wear a "lycra" (SPF-t-shirt) and surfshorts. We cover them with sunscreen (SPF-30) and repaet that every hour. We go to the sea almost every day and they never got a sunburn. We (try) to keep them out of the sun between 12 and 3 pm. That is when the sun is at it's strongest
