I've never been there at that time of year and I'm not sure if the time of year ("rainy" season or not) has anything to do with how many bugs are around. But, I always get eaten alive by some sort of mosquito/bug. It's a different type of bite than I get in the states though. The good news is that my husband never has a problem so it might just be me!! Now, I always bring insect repellent and that seems to work wonders!
