We rented from Red Sail in front of the Marriott Ocean Club. Next time, we'll buy a set before we get there. The gear from Red Sail is actually fine, but by the time you rent for a few days, you might as well own them.

Like Arubalisa said, Boca Catalina Beach is a great snorkeling spot. It's not marked from the road like Arashi Beach or Baby Beach, but the hotel can tell you how to get there. You will be over coral about 50 feet from shore, with lots of great fish and clear water.

If you have a car, it's worth a trip to Baby Beach as well. The snorkeling isn't as interesting as it is at Catalina or Arashi, but it's very easy to do since it's so shallow.
