I think we all need to keep in mind that we moderators are only trying to do the best we can with the "rules" which the Aruba Tourism Authority has set. We receive no compensation, we volunteer our time. For those who think I have no life, I work from home a good number of hours, on the computer and afternoons such as this when I was working, it is easy to "pop on over". Liz, Andrea and myself besides attempting to be helpful, do our best to be fair and unbiased towards all posters.
For those who do not know, there was an Aruba bulletin board operated by the Tourism Authority for quite a number of years. Imo, the wild wild west saw fewer fights and posting took on a higher form of anarchy. I know it drove me away. Too many personalities fighting against each other? I do not know. I do know that anyone who participates on forums anywhere on the internet realizes "different strokes, for different folks" and that is what makes us all individuals.
I know I made a comment here at one time which was taken the wrong way and made someone angry. It was discussed and though I did not agree with their opinion, I removed my post. I learned my lesson that there are some topics better left alone.
As per the rules I try to use smiley faces and emoticons fairly liberally. My dd is the first person to tell you I can be very sarcastic. All in good fun. There have even been times I have used the "report" button to report on myself to ask the other moderators to remove my post if they think it will be taken in the wrong way. Below from the rulesUse smiley faces, emoticons or other indicators of intent liberally. One of the major flaws of Internet communication is the lack of vocal inflections and visual indications of emotion, intent, sarcasm, etc. Be clear what you mean. Many problems occur because someone does not pick up on the sarcasm or otherwise get the joke.
However I digress, Andrea's point is that we can have "fun" but within the rules.

Soon winter will be upon us all and I have a feeling we will be all spending more times indoor with one another...let's make it a great winter with lots of warm thoughts of our favorite "home away from home" Aruba.

having some fun on the forum is not a no no
