Re: Dinner Suggestions Please????

Here is my trip report regarding restaurants from 1-12 thru 122/2005.

Flying Fishbone - We had a waters edge table. Sunset had some cloud cover, but
the ambience was still there. My wife had safron with shrimp soup, & a
combination of sirloin & shrimp as a main course. I had a delicious mussel appetizer, and the fish of the day, Mahi Mahi. Along with a few cocktails, and a few glasses of wine,& coffee, the bill came to $120 including tip. We loved the place and its our list for our next trip! I made reservations via their website
before we left the USA.
---
Texas de Brazil - This all you can eat place was very good. Servers walk around the restaurant with meat on skewers, and you eat til you waddle out fo the place. We ordered a pitcher of Sangria--it was $32.00!!! OUCH! All of the meats were tasty & plentiful. Along with dessert and coffee and tip, the bill came to $132. Yes, we will return here!
---
Mirandi's - Great food! I had a creamy ??? soup and my wife had the Mirandi salad for appetizers. Main courses were a shrimp in a garlic sauce and Wahoo. Both very good. WIth cocktails, dessert, coffee and a sambuca the bill was $134, including tip. This place is close to downtown, on the beach near the Havana Beach Club. Great view of the sunset. Service was very good; nice and relaxed. Yes, we will return. I made reservations via their website before we left the USA.
---
The Sunset Beach Bistro at the Aruba Phoenix.- Although our hostess was very
gracious and explained the menu in detail, our waiter was too busy serving his
'regulars'. Too busy to pay us any mind. If it wasn't for the roaming waitresses,
we wouldn't have had any second drink, dessert, or coffee. In addition, my serving of fresh snapper looked more like a childs portion. We both gave this place a 'never again' and when the bill was presented (which included the 15% gratuity), we left the EXACT change, not a penny more. Hope he takes the hint! Do not confuse any other restaurants with a similar sounding name,'cause quite a few places have the name "SUNSET" in them. FORGET THIS PLACE
---
El Gaucho - steakhouse. My wife had a shrimp appetizer (3 large shrimp for $9.00)We both had tenderloins ( I think), a few cocktails, desert & coffee. The bill came to $100 including tip. My wife sent her steak back to the kitchen for more cooking time. SHe asked for meduim, and it came back bloody. Although people rave about this place, we found it to be just another steakhouse. Maybe thats because we have so many good steakhouses where we live. Yes, we would return. I made reservations via their website before we left the USA.

Pirates Nest Romantic Dinner on the Beach - You are seated on the beach, under cover, where a 5 course dinner is served. You have a shrimp dish, soup, salad, a
selection of entrees, (we had veal), dessert and coffee. It includes a bottle of
champange or wine and costs $75.00 + 15%. If you get a chance, try it--your woman will love ya for it! Make advance reservations via their website--thats how I
did it. I cannot vouch for the regular dinners inside the Pirates Nest--just this
special dinner.

Hope this helps
