Some of you remember I had some concerns about lighting and entertainment for our reception and am so pleased to tell you again, our expectations were exceeded!
You know you have a good party going when you get wedding crashers (something Desireé said has not happened to her before)!
Cool Pro DJs - Mark Benson and DJ Randolph
We met with Mark Benson and DJ Randolph the night we arrived in Aruba. I had been concerned because I couldn't seem to find much for detailed reviews. Well, again, we should have just trusted Desireé! Mark and Randolph were awesome! They came out to the Marriott and the meeting went really well - they asked about the people that would be in our group, what kinds of music we did want to hear, what did we not want to hear, etc.
Some things that were important to use were 1) getting all the 'formalities' out of the way right up front, 2) we wanted to hear bhangra music we would give them, and 3) some 'local flavor'.
The formalities was easy - we did our dance, cut the cake and then opened the buffet! For the bhangra music DJ Randolph expertly worked it in - he knew how much to play and when. He's great at reading the crowd. From the first song after dinner there were people on the dance floor. We even had a couple of guests take over the mic and sing to the group! For local flavor Mark mentioned 'the Wiper'. We had never heard of it but he said its a local song that has a dance that goes with it. They chose this as the second to last song of the night and got
everyone on the dancefloor! It was hilarious. Then they finished the party with one last rockin' bhangra tune.
Elite Productions - Lighting
At the time of our wedding, the Marriott was not equipped to offer us more than spotlights and tiki torches for lighting and we wanted something more sophisticated - we wanted to create a mood with lighting - ambiance. Mark to the rescue! After the DJ meeting the first night, Mark walked the property with us and told us what he could do. We think he did a fantastic job!
