Re: Easter Week

We just spent President's Week in Aruba and it is usually very crowded at that time. In years past, we had to make dinner reservations days in advance. We were unable to rent a car one year because there were none left. It was also very hard to get a palapa.
It was very different this year. We ate at El Gaucho and Suisse Chalet and I made reservations for 14 the same day. The streets were not crowded at all. It was very unusual. I would imagine that you will find the same situation Easter Week.
I don't know if this has anything to do with Natalee, but there was a definite decrease of people in Aruba.
This is not good for Aruba's economy. I also noticed that when you pay for something in dollars, they would give you change in florins. For instance, in Dunkin Donuts, I gave the person a $10.00 bill. I got my $ 4.50 change in florins. (Isn't $1.00=1.75 florins?)
I hope I am wrong.
