Tightline, the way you'll get live bait is try to approach those local fishermen anywhere along the coast arround the island. Upon your request they can bring in live bait for you. Every day further north of the Marriott there are a few locals who catches bait along the Malmok shore. Try it with them. If you go to one of the Marine Equipment stores they'll charge you an arm and a leg for it if you are lucky they have in stock. You may also try asking at Zee Rover, which is located after Brisas Del Mar.

For turf fishing you'll need to keep in mind the sea current will bring the line back to you. Therefore the local tie a balloon to the line with no weight to the line. That'll take the line far out to sea. Once out there you wait for a bite or real it slowly in. Some large fish have been caught this way. This method is mostly done on the south side of the island.

On the northern side of the island where its quite rocky with rough waters, you'll be facing the ocean. Here you can not make use of the balloon method, but instead you'll have to put weights to your line in order for it to reach bottom. If no sufficient weight is put on the line it'll have difficulty reaching bottom and the sea current will drag it or wash it back onto the rocks on shore.

For rentals you can ask at any of the Marine Supply Stores on the island if they have such service. That I remember I haven't seen any rentals. Maybe someone else may have more info on this.
