Don't know about the HI supplying equipment.
If you are going to be using snorkel gear more than just one trip, yes, it may be worth investing the money in your own gear. There are various opinions as to whether or not one should run to Walmart or Target and pickup something or go to a dive shop and be properly fitted for a proper seal on a mask, fins, etc.
With today's airline weight restrictions, you also have the issue of fitting all those "goodies" in your luggage.
IF, the HI does not have gear, and if you do not bring your own, I know for a fact, you can rent gear right there at Aruba Watersports http://www.arubawatersportcenter.com/pricelist_WS.htm between the Radisson and Occidental. If you are snorkeling Baby Beach, JADS has on their website, that they rent gear also.
