1st trip to Aruba in September, need suggestions

    Hi,

Last minute time off Labor Day and will be traveling for my first time to Aruba Sept 4-9.

I'd like suggestions on where to stay, what to do, where to eat :-)

I'm 40, my friend traveling with me is 40. We'd like something reasonably priced, with easy beach access. We'd like to do a lot of snorkeling while we are there. My friend likes to stay active with exploring and casinos not sitting on the beach while I'm all for the beach. I've not traveled very much and I've always hoped to lounge on a white beach with clear water. It would be nice to be able to walk right out to the beach to swim, snorkel, enjoy the sun but affordability will be an issue.

    Thanks!!

welcome to the aruba.com community forum

aruba has many terrific restaurants, bars so going all inclusive is really not a necessity.
    (see culinary culture)

if you are looking for inexpensive, try renting a timeshare from someone!
    (see the timeshare category)

snorkeling is terrific, casinos are plentiful and there are many island excursions, boating excursions and lots to do as well as beach sitting.
(see the activities section) and http://www.aruba.com/things-to-do

have you already purchased your air tix?

you may want to contact aruba4you/mcm http://www.aruba4u.com
they often have some very good deals

If you like the water you chose the second warmest month for water temperatures

The tropicana resort has been offering some great rates. They are on Eagle Beach and the beach is accross the street. the rooms from the reviews I read are very large with full kitchen and living room. They have been renovating the rooms so if you are lucky you might be able to score a renovated rooms. I've seen great rates at Expedia for airfare and room.

Another option is the MVC Eagle Beach Hotel. I've never stood there but I heard its a basic small room with a small fridge, shower, AC, internet and the beach is literally accross the street. At Tropicana its accross the street but I think you would have to go thru another property first "La Cabana" to then cross the street. I've also seen some great rates for MVC in Expedia. I booked it myself for thanksgiving week. The reviews of this no frills hotel were all excellent on trip advisor and they all said that the staff was excellent and very accomodating.

    Good Luck!
