It was announced a few weeks ago that there will be no Music Festival this year (October). Apparently Aruba invests money with the promoters and for the past few years the return in this investment has not been good. The new government does not want to continue in this investment and issue permits for this event. They did mention a couple of other projects that they will be looking into. One project was the possibilty of having the Miss Universe pageant on the island in the near future. The other project was promoting boxing and working with Oscar DelHoya who is suppose to open a boxing gym and clinic and be on the island sometime this month.

It is a shame. But they need to spend their money where they feel the better investment.

I don't know how many people specifically traveled to Aruba for the music festival or just bought tickets because they were on the island.

Then again, I don't know how many people would choose to go to Aruba specifically for a Miss Universe Contest.

They would however travel to Aruba to see a boxing event!
