ATV Tours HELP!

So the fiance and I will be honeymooning in Aruba in late July/Early August. One activity we wanted to do was ATV Tours. I have read some horror stories on this site about one place, began with a W.

So far I have put in inquiries with Rancho Notorious,
Rancho Daimari, and ATV Mania through DePalm. I've also heard that DePalm will subcontract their tours through the place I heard bad experiences about. I've also read some good stuff on Kini Kini.

1.) Where is the best place to go for an ATV tour? Kini Kini looks like a great bang for your buck place.

2.) If the future wife is kind of "wishy washy" about being able to handle an ATV in tough terrain, should we even consider doing one of these tours? Unfortunately I'm a large guy and her weight + me = too heavy for her to ride shotgun.

We are VERY interested in checking out the Natural Pool.

3.) Do you think we should book a Jeep/Land Rover Tour instead?

We will be staying at the Riu Palace.

NO! Why tick off your "future wife" on your honeymoon? Besides the fact, besides the horror stories you have read, due to as you already know, the terrain in Aruba, there have been a number of accidents. A local was killed on one not so long ago.<<stepping of my soapbox >>

Either rent a 4 x 4 SUV and tour the island on your own at your own pace or take any of the number of guided jeep tours. http://www.abc-aruba.com/ is just one which comes to mind.

Hi,

This is my first post in the forum though I have been a silent reader since a month. This is a great forum with loads of information! Thanks to all members for your valuable inputs.

My husband and I will be in Aruba during end of this month. I have exactly the same questions as tratocaster1422 (the one who initiated this thread).
> Can anyone please let me know is its good to take ATV tour with Kini kini tours?
> I am confused wheather to go for half-day or full-day tour. Can anyone suggest me which type of tour is better?
> My husband and I are not swimmers but we are interested in snorkeling. Can we go snorkeling without knowing how to swim?

Jeep the only way to go :)

Get a jeep ,take the top off and go topless, the only way to tour the desert and ride around the island...

Cool kini Kini Tours/Other Input

kini Kini tours is a great tour company (at least my experience with them was good - see my other posts about the company/my experience with the company). I should also point out that I would not recommend having two riders on an ATV on the way to the Natural Pool as the rough terrain makes it easy to get off balance and flip the ATV. Additionally, if your wife is a little apprehensive about taking an ATV tour, I would definitely take a jeep tour (trust me - I have been in your shoes before). The Natural Pool is a definite must see!

Half day vs. Full day tour - it depends on what you want to see/how much time you want to devote to the tour. I have done both types of tours and both were great.

Snorkeling - I would suggest going to Baby Beach for snorkeling. Some tours offer a stop at Baby Beach and give you equipment to use while you are there (you can stand in the narrows and watch fish there). You may also want to investigate a tour that includes a trip to DePalm island.

Thanks for all the replies! After reading everything on here and talking to some friends that did the ATV tours, we've decided to not do the ATV's. We may check out the Jeep tours when we get down there and book it if we really want to go. I'll probably go with ABC-tours if we do go.

Oh, and we'll get some snorkeling in on the Mi Dushi, so I'm not worried about that!

They go pretty fast, but consider renting a jeep (or some other 4x4) for at least part of your trip. You can see a lot of the same things the tours see, but you can skip the parts that bore you and stay longer at things that you love.

Aruba History:
Lou: Visited on a cruise in 2005
Lou&Nay: Will visit on our honeymoon 9/2008

My boyfriend and I will be visiting Aruba for the first time this Sept. we really wanted to try the atv tour.

Why do you recommend the jeep tour over the atv??

Not recommending the ATV tours because they are DANGEROUS!! Go back and read some of the real life stories of people hurt, some very seriously, taking an ATV tour. Enjoy the jeep tour and stay safe.

IF YOU DON'T SWIM, do not go snorkeling??? It's just my opinion but if you don't swim I would be very hesitant to do this. Even with a life jacket, if you lack swimming skills what will you do if you fall? Snorkelling involved going in a boat, jumping out of the boat (sometimes in areas that are quite wavy) and swimmng around to look at the fish! Yes, you can go to Baby beach but I would think you still need to be able to swim?? If you go by yourselves, where would you get life jackets from?? Non-swimmers are asking for trouble to try this kind of water activity....again, its only my opinion!
