Buying Snorkel gear

My wife and I have our own snorkel gear but our daughter does not. She doesn't live in our state but will be joining us in Aruba a few days after we arrive. I think I would like to buy her some gear but don't want to buy it hear as it may not fit properly. Is there a good place to purchase snorkel gear at a reasonable price on the island. I've been to Aruba 3 other times but don't remember any dive shops other than the ones in the resorts and as I recall they are pretty proud of their gear and charge a fortune.

Re: Buying Snorkel gear

Gary,
There is a decent dive shop near Baby & Roger's beach (go straight on road that you would otherwise turn left from to enter Baby Beach...shop is at end of road) and prices, suprisingly, were comparable to the States...resort shops are considerably more expensive...enjoy!

Gary, by the way...the dive shop has all top names including SeaVision, Mares, Cressi and ScubaPro...as well as pretty good bargain items...enjoy!

Re: Buying Snorkel gear

O'Malley, you don't happen to know the name of that dive shop do you? I'd like to find out their hours of operation. My daughter flies in on Thursday afternoon and we are scheduled for the Mi Dushi on Friday. I know the Mi Dushi provides snorkel gear, but as long as she is getting it anyway I'd like for her to have it before we go on Friday.

Thanks for your help.

Re: Buying Snorkel gear

I had to buy a new snorkel and mask when I was there in Dec. (mine walked away from Boca Catalina one day). I found good ones at Red Sail Sports. Red Sail Sports is very centrally located in town. On the main street, near Dunkin Donuts.

You get what you pay for, and my set was quite expensive--but it was great. Remember new masks will fog. Put toothpaste in them overnight and don't rinse out till you hit the water. Then put a drop of defogger or baby shampoo and you will have zero fogging.

I realize this is an ancient thread and I apologize in advance for resurrecting it, but for anyone searching for snorkeling info (like me) that stumbles upon it the aforementioned dive shop near Baby and Roger's beaches is Jads Diver Center.
