no question is stupid
yes downtown congestion is probably the main reason folks inquire about cruise schedule port of call /Aruba.

other reasons may include meeting friends that are on a shore excursion from the ship

could also be many other reasons, but i do know that many folks will avoid downtown o'staad if ships are in port.

fwiw, one ship in port does not seem to impact the congestion significantly.

and the scientology ship "freewinds" calls aruba it's homeport and that ship only carries about 200 cruisers so that ship has little or no impact of downtown traffic.

Crowded downtown Oranjestad, lots of additional traffic downtown AND MANY MANY crowded excursions.

No sense in taking say, a snorkel excursion, on a day when there are going to be cruise ship passengers in port, when you can stay on the beach that day and take the snorkel excursion when there are 1000's less people on the island.

Adventure of the Seas carries 3114 passengers and Disney Magic carries 2400.

<<great minds think alike Andrea >>

Thursday. On Tuesday and Thursday we will go to the beach.

You will see cruise ship passengers on the beach as identified by their ship's beach towels.

Keep in mind, they will not be using resort palapa's or chaises with the exception of day passes sold at the Riu, Occidental or Renaissance and the Amsterdam Manor. It should not be overwhelming.

Below is a vendor's tent with chaises and umbrellas for rent at the south end of the Radisson's beach.

All beaches in Aruba are public so everyone has access.
