Drive-in will close

Drive-in gaat sluiten
http://www.amigoe.com/artman/publish/artikel_54297.php
23 Maart, 2009, 15:51 (GMT -04:00)

Rough translation:

The drive-in Balashi will close. This is confirmed by Meta Corporation, the operator of the outdoor cinema. This is the transfer of 35 millimeter film to digital playback from a hard disk that Meta will introduce all its cinemas.

According to a spokesperson of Meta Corp. is the company not to in the drive-in the costly adjustment to make. Since no films in 35 millimeter format more will receive, is to maintain the old projector excluded. When exactly 40 years old cinema, one of the few of its kind in the world who still operational, will close its doors permanently, is still not entirely sure. According to Meta Corp. will "probably on March 31" done with this Aruban landmark, but it could also just be that in April, the latest film in the open air will be shown. Meta Corp. does not lose what exactly will happen to the land of drive-in. According to insiders, it would be converted to a new location for large events. The current economic crisis, these plans until further notice.

3D
Meta Corp. for the conversion from film to digital cinema in the Paseo Herencia well as Renaissance Marketplace technicians on fly. These projectors will be out of a total of twelve rooms ready for digital display. The films themselves will not be from large spools of 35 mm thick film shown, but from a computer. Digital playback from a hard disk is the new standard when it comes to cinema quality. In addition, two rooms, one in each cinema is equipped with 3-D technology. Visitors to the rooms in which films are shown, with the help of special glasses to see an extra dimension. These two rooms are a joint venture between Meta Corp. and Setar and assigned the name Setar Auditorium.

Drive-In New Jersey

The Delsea Drive-In Theatre, Vineland, NJ is the only one left open in Jersey. I have never been there, but I receive their electronic news letter on a weekly basis. They actually opened for the season this past weekend.

If anyone lives in the Jersey area, here is their link

There are a few still open in some spots in rural Ontario, and I think the #7 Drive-in is still.... oh, no, there it goes too.
Now it's a mega-super-duper-spotlights-in-the-sky-multiplex.... even looks like a spaceship.

Still a few out in the country, like I said.

Hard to believe, but it IS possible to miss the chilly eve, the skeeters and the runnin' & screamin' kids that don't have to be in bed at 9 tonight.....
