Horseback riding

4 weeks from today, woohoo! Has anyone gone horseback riding with Rancho Del Campo? They have one tour to a natural pool and you can go snorkeling, was wondering how that was. Thanks

Re: Horseback riding

As a local I can go without the tour thing, however our family likes to go on horse sometimes and we always choose Rancho del Campo. Animals in good condition and seem to be well cared for and the supervision while on the tour is very good.
have fun
be well

Re: Horseback riding

We went with Ranco Daimari, and the horses were well cared for and knew the trail. YOu should be an experienced rider. Please be advised that you go over and down some steep rock laden trails which frightened me a little. The run on the beach was fantastic. The natural pool takes a while to climb down to, and not worth all the hype. You can skin your knees while climbing on the slimey rocks to the pool(I did!!) All in all it was an adreneline rush and I am happy that I did it once!!!Enjoy.

Re: Horseback riding

The natural pool is a dish shapped formation abbuting the North Coast waters. At ist' most deep point it is maybe 12 feet deep and the waters in it are clear and clean 98% of the time. The other 2% is when storm debree spills over - but that settles away soon.

There are varied fish there. Parrot fish and some other common and hardy fish can be found there. Good idea to take a diving mask. While there, you will wish that there weren't so many people there. The pool is relatively small and the crowds dampen any day dreams you might have of being on a deserted island etc. Beut it is a piece of nature for all to enjoy.

Formerly, it was a spot inhabited by turtles. As I understand it, they went there and then on to the shoreline to lay their eggs. I cannot be sure about this and also have a tough time imagening turtles climbing into the pool - however that is the legend.

The climg down to the pool is challanging but fun and safe. The coastal walk is the same.

All in all, you will enjoy it and the mental pictures will greatly outshine those made by your camera. Afterall, there is something to be said about getting on a horse, riding to a cliff side, looking down to a natural pool, going to it, swimming in it and then back to the horse and riding out. Hell - Neither Brad Pitt of John Wayne pulled that one off.

go enjoy

be well

Re: Horseback riding

Had never been Horse back riding and was forced by family to go, went with Rancho Del Campo, the horses were fantastic, knew exactly where and which path to take, the guys there were freindly and very helpful, provided us with drinks(cokes & sprites) at the pool..Natural Pool is awesome, like Charles said take a mask and you will love it...Just a piece of advise, I've seen a lot of people try and climb up on rocks on the other side of the pool to feel the waves hit, you can really hurt yourself doing that.. So enjoy it and have fun...

Exclamation

you may not be aware that you are subject to a potential problem at the aurport unless you lie about being in contact with livestock on the immigration form to get back to the States.
