the older i get the scarier things become.

the lionfish is looked on in aruba and the caribbean in the same way the boa constrictor is looked at = they need to be eradicated by any means.
I had this scary feeling after watching the movie "Jaws". But I still went into the ocean to swim.

I completely agree, the Lionfish and the Boas are a huge problem. I hope Aruba can get it under control.

And I would like to add one more: this very poisonous toad which is very dangerous for kids and pets (dogs, cats).

Is spear fishing illegal. I think it is but not 100% positive.

If it is legal...here is a pretty neat gadget

Just let us all know where you'll be w/your spear so we can all "steer clear".

    THAT is excellent news!

Thank you so much for sharing.

Do you know how many total were 'captured' in the hunt?

The blood from spearfishing will attract sharks, I have to believe that is part of the reason for the ban in Aruba.

Any news on lionfish? The most recent issue of the best Brazilian travel magazine brought two pages of readers' underwater pics, and there was a lionfish photographed on the coast of Colombia. The reader said she had seen many of those while diving.

    All the best from Brazil
