Talking Looking for things to do ...

I'm just so happy to have found this forum. Will be returning to Aruba with the hubby for the 1st time since our last trip in May 2005 and we are very excited. Last time was just before hubby's prostate surgery and am happy to announce he is cancer free ... all we did was eat and lay around ... seriously ... oh and shop but we're looking forward to really seeing the island. We're celebrating our 6th anniversary and I am looking for ideas of interesting things to do around the Island. We will be staying in Oranjestad.

Would love to hear from anyone regarding art, culture, best place to see sunrises and sunsets. Thanks so much.

welcome to the forum deb
and wonderful news of your husband's health!

take some time, and a huge glass of wine and check out the forum.
if/when you get tired of reading, ask tons of questions.

my husband and i, when in aruba do a lot of laying around in the sun (thawing out) and swimming and eating.

i do highly recommend reading the "activities" category and "gettting around aruba" category.

then of course culinary and culture :-)

Thank you

Thank you Andrea. I will have that glass of wine and take some time to browse the site. We'll be there in less than 2 months.

deb, welcome to the forum, great news with your husband, mine as well went through the same thing. What kind of plans did you have in mind to do ? Just being in Aruba, relaxing, have a few drinks, going out for some nice dinner meals, maybe plan a little tour of the island, do some snorkeling. How long you going for ?

Deb welcome! Great news about your husband, Im glad to hear someone beat that crap. One thing I would do is stay on the beach at sunset, raise a glass of champagne and toast to each others love, health, Family and Friendship. DW and I do this every year, soulful moment in life.
Enjoy your trip.

By all means, check out the Bon Bini festival Tuesday night at Ft. Zoutman -- it's the one place you'll see real Arubians playing music, performing dances and selling local food and homemade souveniers. The emcee, Hubert Naar, is hilarious -- and you'll actually feel as if you're in a foreign country with its own culture - not just an extension of any US suburb with Tony Roma's and Sbarro!
