Morgan's Island

I just read on another BB that there is a new water park supposedly being built somewhere near LaCabana. Does anyone know about this? I was just in Aruba for 2 weeks and I didn't see anything being built but condos! I would love it if this is true!

Yes, not too far from the new Oceania Condominiums construction supposedly began on the water park in early December, though like you I didn't see much in the way of signs that any work is actually being done. You can see a rendering of what the final product is going to look like if you go to aruba-bb.com and click on the link to the Tradewinds Times and scroll down quite a ways to the article about it.

By hopsital and across from alhambra casino. this is going to stink. changes the whole sculpture of an island and makes it like manhattan--soon.

No it's not by the hospital and across from The Alhambra, it's closer to La Cabana & the Oceania Condo's that are going up. There are also condo's going up over behind the hospital but that's a different area.

paul and i scoped out the water park while in aruba last week
one of the workers told me, opening in summer of 2008.

we counted 6 slides
there is also going to be a lazy river

the 2 intertwined green/red slide look real scary
i am a water slide kinda person and think i would "freak" in the green or red one that they have.

so they say opening in summer, 2008....................i bet they may make their goal. we have seen a significant amount of progress on that water park since september.

i truly wonder if that water park will be a success.
i hope it is affordable so that the aruban residents can enjoy it as well as the tourists.
i hope that they provide lifeguards.
i wonder too if tourists will want to leave the beach and pay $$ to use the water park. i myself, in my legendary cheapness would be hardpressed to open my wallet especially since the resort pools and the beaches are so awesome.

i would love to have some serious debating on this issue.

Hey, you can always try Depalm Island for the 1/2 and do their water park.

Andrea,
I have been avoiding this website since I got back from Aruba in November.....withdrawl...it's awful getting on the plane to come home knowing its at least 6 months before another trip!!!
Anyway, the water park looks like it may get finished by Christmas at least....since we stay at Divi Village and have one slide, I think it may be a nice treat for families with kids. The draw back I would think, besides the money is what do the adults do after about one or two trips down the slides, while the kids play ?? Maybe be if they open a bar/restaurant it may be more of a draw....can't really say how it will do though. I hope for the folks that live there and can count on a few more jobs that it does well......and since it is building up so fast and so many folks are going with kids now adays it may be a great idea!!! Okay enough of my ramblings for one reply...........Bon Bini !!

Aruba, my home away from home !!
