    Octopus

Has anyone taken the Octopus cruise? We were looking to do something other than the Jolly Pirates this time - the Octopus seemed like a good option. Any input?

We took the Octopus snorkel trip 2 years ago with my daughter and son-in-law and none of us were very impressed. The snorkeling was fine (the usual spots), but the crew was not interacting with the customers at all-even though there were only about 12 of us in total. The lunch they served was not even close to what we have had on Red Sail and the Jolly Pirates. The only advantage was that it was a much smaller boat than the others, so not the big crowds. Just my opinion, as others had recommended this boat to us but we were very disappointed.

It was the small boat thing thing that attracted us. We have a group of 8 - 12 that will be going. Thought it would be nice to not have a crowd like we have had on the Pirates in the past. I think we are just doing the sunset cruise - so no snorkeling involved.

    Thanks

Thanks Lisa - I will check out the others. Tranquilo was ruled out by my friends though.

Our family has been going on the Octopus since 1989. We love the smaller group and like to give our business to Jethro. In 2009 we were 13 people and we chartered the Octopus for a private sail. It was awesome and we found it reasonably priced. Lunch may not be the greatest but the experience is so much better than the larger vessels. If you are from the mindset that bigger is not always better, you will love the Octopus. Enjoy.
