Question regarding the riding.. Last trip to Aruba, the US customs folks asked if we had rode horses or atv'd. Does anyone know why? I assume to prevent soil from reaching the USA..or bugs as far as that goes.. Just curious.

the USDA started asking that question a few (maybe 6 or 7) yrs ago when "mad cow" was suspected in europe or was it canada?
bottom line is they want to know what "germs/bugs/diseases" are being brought in to the USA. dear hubby says they always asked it on the form, but i seem to remember that it was as a result of a "mad cow" scare. andrea
