    Ritz casino requiring passport?

When we were at the Ritz casino over Thanksgiving we applied for a players card and were told they needed our passport. This was unexpected and we donít carry our passports around with us. She did end up giving us the card based on our driverís license. Today, while browsing the Ritz website (casino page), I noticed a disclaimer stating that effective February, 2018 a passport would be required, due to local law, for all cash transactions at the casino. Has anyone experienced this at the Ritz or elsewhere?

I can see if you WON alot of money and to collect it you would need a passport. But I would think a license which shows you are old enough to gamble should be sufficient. I would never carry my passport out with me at night just to get a player's card. I don't gamble enough that I get any benefit from any card at any casinos. The only place it pays to have a player's card is Vegas where they are very generous with their comps. My husband gambled almost every night at the Hyatt for at least 3 hours for over 3 weeks and he had a comp for one, not two but one breakfast, lol. if that was vegas, we would have had a hotel room for a week and all meals comped. So I don't think its worth it to carry my passport out at night for a player's card

    Quote from the Ritz's site:
Effective February 1, 2018, all guests will be required to present a valid passport including current residential address for cash transactions at The Casino at The Ritz-Carlton, Aruba as required by the local law (P.O. Boxes do not suffice).
So it's not needed for a player's card, but for cash transactions.

I cashed out for 1500 last night with zero issues...not really sure about the passport thing at all.

I was curious about this as they actually asked us to come back later with our passports, which of course, we didn’t. However, when it states “all cash transactions” I interpreted that to mean you would need a passport to cash in a winning slot machine ticket. I would think they would get some push back from people if that was enforced.

As for the players cards, I don’t really expect comps (it’s not Vegas). I like to get the cards as more of a souvenier.
