Thumbs up

You have to be extremely lucky to catch a shark around Aruba.

There are tons of other species, so maybe you should revise your goals .

Tight lines

Can anyone explain to me why there are no sharks in Aruba? They got to be there, and don't get me wrong, I like snorkeling with a feeling of security. I've heard there are hammerheads on the rough side of the island. Can anyone splain it to me?

If theres game fish and bait around there are sharks, maybe not a large concentration, and maybe not many big ones but there are some sharks. If there is not anyone chumming them thats probably a good thing for those snorkling.

Take the above with a grain of salt as tomorrow will be my first time to Aruba. but in general if theres bait, then theres preadetors.

Had a couple of drinks with some guys that were fishing on the north side of the island and had a shark "encounter". The one guy had a nice Wahoo and the other had a nice wahoo head. While bringing in a four foot wahoo a shark decided to take everything but the head.

There are mostly Mako and Hammerheads on that side of island from what some of the local divers have said.

The guys that run the Driftwood boat had just cleaned a blacktip about 60lbs when we were walking the docks last Sunday.
