Re: what happened

The accident last May referred to was in May when the 14 year old boy rented a jetski stating that he was 16. The jetski did stall and Max (his name) was never found. The story by the person who was with him on another jetski was that the machine did stall and the man made it back but the boy didn't. Strange that they were found four miles out at sea. Have any of you jetskiers gone four miles out into the ocean? There were helicopters from other islands as well as Aruban Coast Guard, American Coast Guard and I don't remember if was Venezuela or Columbia whp sent ships out looking for this poor boy. We never saw the sky so lit up and they searched for three days. Very sad when his Mom and sister went out to sea on a small boat with a wreath of flowers.

Re: what happened

His father had passed away several weeks earlier and his mother took her family to Aruba for a vacation.

A friend of his mother took Max to rent jetskis and vouched that he was 16-years-old.

While they were riding the jetskis, Max's jet stalled. The friend attempted to tow it back to shore when his ski also stalled. Not long after, a wave swamped both jets throwing both in to the water.

When the jet compnay realized they were over-due they started their own search and eventually found the family friend who said the last time he saw Max he was about 30 yards away.

A massive sea search was launched, but regretably he was never found.

Because of the wind and currents, it's very easy to drift away from the island.
