Thats actually the one thing I want to do! Last year I was in Playa Del Carmen and didn't get a chance to do it, this year its a must.

    What stables would you recommend?

For the last six or so years my Lady and I have been fond of the horses and staff at Rancho La Ponderosa. Lucho and his team have always been really accomodating to both the experienced and inexperienced rider.
They do the whole routine of figuring out who's green and who's not, and often the more experienced riders get the opportunity to, shall I say, loosen up the reins a little on the beach road by the gold mine.
But don't tell anyone I said that...

Has anyone on the board been to La Ponderosa in the last year, and does anyone know if Patrick is still working there?
He's got to be one of the coolest guides I've encountered on the island yet...

Any beach on the western side of the island.

The Lighthouse would be nice as well.
