    Alhambra Casino

We got back to Texas yesterday! We loved everything about Aruba & plan on returning! One kind-of bad experience though - Alhambra Casino. We played roulette there, had a great time and then major drama hit. A young couple sat down a placed a $2 bet on 2-12. (Not sure of lingo) It hit. She didn't get paid out. She brought it to the dealer's attention immediatly, he argued with her kind of nasty. Now she is getting very upset, husband also getting upset. A local was playing next to me and told dealer, yes she had her bet there. Dealer got more upset. (The local was quite good at game and seemed to know the ends and outs) Now the lady was getting mad to put it nicely. She said on $2 she should of been paid out $4 and she didn't care about the money it was the principal now. The floor manager came over and I won't name names but he was down right ugly and accused her of lying. At this point the lady's husband is about to bust a you know what. Manager was quite hateful. The husband told him to go review the tape. Guess what - the lady was right the whole time. They nastily gave her her money but no oops or apology or anything. TOTAL DRAMA and I know that but it left a bad taste in my mouth and I told dh I didn't want to give this casino anymore of our money. (We had probably spent @ 300 there. ) We left. I will never go there again because they were so hateful and funny thing is it was to someone I do not even know!! Sorry for long post but wanted to share.

My friend was at Alhambra this past Wednesday night. Same principal. She cashed out her ticket on a slot machine and put it in another. The ticket she cashed out was over $4.00 but when she put the ticket in the new slot it was alot lower (I forget how much). She called over the manager; he gave her a dirty look like she was lying. She was so mad at his look and also told him it wasn't about the money but the principal. I think we should all be now be aware of Alhambra.

We are going back to Aruba in LESS than 2 weeks (excited!) and I was definitely planning on going to Alhambra because it's close to Divi where we own and therefore easier...etc.

Now, there's no way I will be going as I'm not too keen on dirty looks thrown my way, especially when I'm basically donating money to you in the first place!!

Thanks for the info, it's definitely of great value to me!

Alhambra is the only place we have won a significant amount of money - about a grand. But that was on the dollar slots.

Except for the guy at the door, I've never been impressed with the folks who work there. But no one has actually been as unpleasant as described. Things have gone downhill. That's a shame.

reading the postings on the alhambra is disheartening.
imo, over the last 3 years alhambra has sunk to all time lows.
i have found the place dirty, crummy ventilation and unfriendly.

don't you all hate it when the folks use the money catcher thing as an ashtray?
and i miss the yahtzee machines.

some of the pit bosses are nasty SOBs anad need a course in customer service, friendliness and basic social skills. they have been doing the job way too long and it is time for alhambra to make some tough and costly changes.

I was not thrilled by the place in 2006. Still, this is some pretty bad stuff. Is there any way to send a link to this thread to the Alhambra. They might like to see how devoted, regular tourists see the casino.

This is the casino near the Bucuti? We have a 'gambling budget' for our upcoming trip, but if what you are saying is true, then I think I'd prefer to lose my money elsewhere!

    Wow.
This is a bit of a surprise when I read all this.
Honestly... the Alhambra is one of the only casinos on the island that hasn't treated my wife and I like human excrement. That is to say that ALL of the pit-bosses have always been very polite, and to say the least very patient with any new "money donators".
By that I mean it's nice to win occasionally, but I don't count on walking away with loads of green. Luck is luck, odds are odds, and quite frankly, do you really think the casino is there to give you their money? Not really. It's a business after all.
As for the lack of courtesy, the best you could probably do is to speak to the powers that be on the island (there must be some sort of regulatory power watching over this stuff), and at very least, tell your fellow tourists AND let the management of your particular resort know.
It's a small island, word spreads, and no one, no matter how full of themselves they may be, wants bad publicity.

Sorry to hear about this, I hope your next experience is better.

Okay, 364 more days 'til paradise.

be well, brightest of blessings, and shoot for that lucky 7!
