Re: expensive to party ?
There's a liquor store along Orangestraat just north of downtown Aruba that has pretty decent prices. Can't remember the name. The Palmero Rum warehouse used to sell liquor out of a small attached shop, but I think they quit selling retail last year.
I keep hearing people say things are so expensive in Aruba. But think about it. Go to a 'nice' restaurant in the states with your mate, order a couple steak dinners, have some wine - chances are you'll be at around $75 to $100 for the two of you. Compare that to, let's say, El Gaucho's in Aruba. You can each get a great steak dinner for about $22 each, have a carafe of sangria wine, and still come in under $75. I just don't see this huge discrepancy in prices. Yes, the grocery stores charge about 25% more on most items, but all-in-all, wining and dining is fairly comparable. Best part is, you're doing it in the greatest place in the world.
