new years fireworks

the past few new years eve's that we've been in aruba (staying at the marriott, surf/ocean clubs), we have had a very low key, casual dinner, and then gone to the marriott beach party. to be honest, it's been mediocre, at best (maybe thats because we are new yorkers)...have heard about the ling and sons fireworks, and that they are not to be missed. where do we need to go to view the fireworks? and is it a big "party" to celebrate new years?
just trying to decide if we should venture out (cabs on new years), or hang where we've been in the past....any input would be appreciated

Ling & Sons fireworks is not on New Year's Eve. It's a a night or two before. It's held in the store parking lot starting at 10 pm. I saw it this year from the front of Alhambra Casino.

Have any schedules of New Year's festivities been released yet? Working on planning out our nice long New Year's trip.

This is my opinion on NYE in Aruba...

The fireworks are spectacular and we love to watch them from our balcony (at the Surf Club) at midnight. We go for dinner and then return back to the hotel prior to midnight. Getting a cab on NYE (from what I have been told) is extremely difficult after midnight. NYE is a very big deal to Aruban's and they do a lot of "house" parties, from what I have been told, so many will not work after midnight. Apparently, getting cabs from 12-4am is difficult.
Personally, we have a car but we don't want to be on the road because many people are drinking and that is a concern.

Try investigating some of the places within walking distance and see what is going on for NYE, like Soprano's or Confessions?

I guess I am more looking for the schedule of whats going on the week leading up to NYE. I heard some of the fireworks shows are in the days leading up to it.

We already have plans for actual NYE. We are staying at Gold Coast and the community seems to have organized a party being catered and with a DJ and fireworks.

Sounds perfect! I dont have to go more than 50 feet across the street to the pool!
