I don't think that you can enter since im 16 and they always ask me for ID. Since you need to have 18 years to enter. But if you want you can add me, garlic_soup@hotmail.com when are you guys coming here?

Hello Friends
The legal drinking age is 18, but DO NOT GO OUT DRINKING ALONE. REMEMBER NATALIE HOLLOWAY. We have been going to aruba for over 10 years now and love it. we feel safe and have never feared for our lives in any way. However young girls should not wander the bars and clubs alone. Enjoy your trip.

I'm coming down alone for a week as a confident solo traveler. I'm 36 and can take care of myself. Is there any worry for someone like me? Is there violence I need to worry about or theft of scams. I'm pretty aware but just wanted to make sure.

It is very safe in Aruba, just use the same common sense you would in your own home town. Don't wander off alone into dark streets, etc. I would have no worries walking along the high rise strip by myself (I am a female) when there are lots of people out and about. Enjoy the island as it is truly special!!

16 or 18 for the drinking age? Really does it matter? I still think 21 is too young. Just think................... Even if 16 or 18 is the age that it's ok to drink in Aruba and we let our kids do it what are we saying to them when we get back to the USA. I don't know............ maybe it's just me but it's just like saying to your kids it's ok to drink in your own home and buying them beer. Would you do that?

I thought the same law applies to Aruba as to the Netherlands. In the Netherlands the legal drinking age for beverages under 15% ABV is 16. The legal drinking age for beverages 15% ABV and over is 18.

Check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legal_drinking_age

Most clubs require you to be 18 or older, but do not check if you look old enough.

"Accuracy
  • Dross can proliferate, rather than become refined, as rhapsodic authors have their articles revised by ignorant editors.
  • Anyone can add subtle nonsense or accidental misinformation to articles that can take weeks or even months to be detected and removed.
  • The very nature of Wikipedia makes it possible for someone to change and/or rearrange an article in any way, resulting in lost information or to the point that the article no longer makes sense."
In other words, authors can post pretty much whatever they wish. One person's word against another.

Well in this case I know for a fact that the legal drinking age in the netherlands is 16 for drinks with 15% ABV or less.

But thanks for the warning about Wikipedia.
