What do you do after dinner?

After dinner in Aruba, what do you like to do?

We know that CP tucks his DW into bed and hits the casinos.

Paul and I typically return to our timeshare for an hour or 2 after dinner and then if the mood hits we both visit a casino, or he will visit the casino alone as CP does.

Every time we visit Aruba, Paul says to me; "we should go to the movies."
My reply is that we have a movie theater within 1 mile of our home and have yet to go there.

Often we are tired from being on the beach and in the ocean and just call it a night after dinner.

    How about you?
Happy Holidays to you and yours!

Sometimes.... like last night..... we get dropped off at the Hyatt and listen to music and people watch. Then we took a walk along the beach to check out the Hilton. Sometimes we just hang on the balcony for a while.... I always go to the casino...!

We don't typically go to dinner until around 8 so by the time a nice leisurely dinner is done with, it's 9:30-10pm. Sometimes we'll stroll around, have a cocktail someplace else, but for the most part, we're usually back in our room by 11-11:30 so we can get up early the next day and hit the beach or get started in whatever we planned to do. We're just not late night people.

I never even got to the casinos this last trip since we were so busy, but do also like to spend a little time there usually.

Depends on the day and who is with us.

Sometimes we break out some board games or card games - the kids really like Pokeno and save their nickles to play (yes, they are casino patrons in training!). Sometimes my daughter & I will hit a casino or two, sometimes my mom will join us. If friends are on the island with us, we may hit some nightlife spots. DH is not really into crowds and not a drinker so he gets bored in those situations. He'd rather relax with the TV and rest up for the next day, which I try to be ok with since it's his vacation too! lol

On movie nights we may just order a pizza and sit around the pool watching whatever movie they play. We have been to the movies on the island once. I can't even tell you what we saw since I tend to fall asleep if I sit down long enough to watch a movie!

If we have dinner in the Palm Beach area we usually walk around and check out the shops/carts.

I really REALLY want to get to the Bon Bini Festival this year. I WILL get to the Bon Bini festival this year!

We usually walk around the high rise area....pop into shops. Sometimes we go to Bugaloe's when there is a live band playing. We also sometimes hit the little gelato place near Gianni's. We're usually back to our room by 11 since I'm an early riser. I like getting up early and sitting out by the beach with a coffee just listening to the water. Very peaceful.

We'll be at the casino for a bit and then head back to the room to sit out on the balcony. When we're at the Renaissance we seem to spend more time at the casino because I like the Seaport. Sometimes Tom heads over to the Crystal but it's way too smoky for me!

We don't have a set plan most nights. After dinner we wander around Palm Beach and somehow almost always find ourselves at Moomba for a nightcap.

We tend to eat dinner later when we're on vacation (usually around 8-8:30pm.) After dinner we usually meet up with friends who live on the island - sometimes it's a planned "meet you there at this time" and sometimes we just run into friends at some of our favorite places we go to for after dinner drinks. If we're in the mood for music we head to the Bugaloe, Fusion, Café Chaos, or The Old Dutch (we also like to play a few rounds of darts at The Old Dutch.) But, in general, we spend time with friends we only get to see once or twice a year along with a few drinks (and a lot of laughs.) Usually head back to the hotel around midnight-ish. On our last trip in May we were invited to a couple really lovely dinner parties hosted by friends of ours. Had a great time, met some new people, and just ate and drank the night away under the stars.

Casino doesn't even venture into our minds - not our thing. I did go see a movie once with a couple of friends on the island. We went to a late movie around 11pm on the spur of the moment and then closed down Café Pijp (when it was still open.) The movie was horrible (not a lot of good movies playing that night to choose from - LOL!) and we still laugh about it to this day.

Sometimes if we get back to the hotel early enough, we'll pour a glass of champagne or wine and take it down to the beach. We just sit on a couple of lounge chairs on the edge of the water, star gaze, and listen to the waves lapping on the shore. It's a nice way to end an evening.

We'll usually go for a walk. If we're not overly stuffed we'll stop for a beverage. If there is anything good playing at the movie theater we might take in a movie one night a week. Some nights we'll just catch a sunset if we've eaten earlier. Some night we'd like to catch some live music, but most of the time we're to beat to make it happen.
