Hyatt is our favorite, then probably Marriott. Dealers at Hyatt roulette are very nice. We didn't really like Alhambra, until we had a nice hit there on slot. Somehow winning can change your feelings on a place.

yup, it is that love/hate thing.
years ago we won a lot at the old 'royal cabana casino' (enough won to buy a timeshare)
but i hated that place. even with a purse full of a few thousand dollars i was begging paul to leave, as i hated the place.

    same thing with the alhambra.
i won $1000 on a slot machine and was witching (with a B) and moaning about the smoke and being hot and uncomfortable, as the casino employee was counting out the $ to me.
i am a very strange person.

if the ritz was not so tight, that would be my always go to place.

It would be so nice if some areas of the casino were nonsmoking!! I won't stay if the casino is too smokey. For me, the Crystal was the worst. I haven't even attempted to go back.

Where is the Barcelo located? I never hear anything about this place (never mind its casino).

Next to the Hyatt and Hilton on Palm Beach? I checked google maps and it shows it as an all inclusive but, I never, ever hear of this place.

    yup

the odd thing is that just recently folks were saying that this casino was only open to guests of the barcelo.
i found that very odd and was unsure of if it were true.

I believe that they are now open to the public- I thought I read that recently but I could be wrong.

If you're into VP, and are looking for full pay (9/6) JoB, then Crystal may have the most machines with as low as 25c. I've had 2 royals in the last 2 years there as well.
The Ritz definitely has the best drinks/service, and virtually smokefree, just really tight.
    Decent write up here:

Alhambra seems to be the most loose on the island in my experience. Glitz is ok for what it is, fairly small, but they pack a lot in! My mom loves the bingo there during the day - it's long - maybe 1.5-2 hours and they provide a snack! Hyatt has been pretty nice to us over the years - my SIL won big on video poker there last year. Early in the day seems to be the best time for the smoke factor.
