Okay, I spent a lot of time in Florida growing up and an inordinate amount of time on golf courses (my family are addicts) so I was hesitant to go to a golf course to eat because I'd never really enjoyed club house food in the past... it always seemed to lean on the microwaved side of food prep. But then I read some forum mentions about Tierra Del Sol's Ventanas (I think it was RobO and CindyO) and we decided to give it a shot.
Beautiful setting with a stunning view of the lighthouse and the northern tip of the island. Great service and we dined al fresco with the iguanas... what more could you ask for? Well... just ask for a few of these to make the lunch even better:
But on to the food...
I had the escargot as an appetizer... wonderful, light garlic, good level of parsley, and, hey, what ISN'T good with melted butter?!?
And The Spouse had the most creative and tasty Waldorf salad we've seen/tasted.. not sure it was 'technically' a Waldorf salad but, when in paradise, shut up and eat:
The mains were quite good after the stunning appetizers (and a few more "smart ones"):
I had a caesar salad with shrimp:
And The Spouse opted for a burger - massive and good but the fries were just passable but the last thing we need is more fat:
And we made a new friend... a boisterous iguana! But I've just discovered that the forum limits the number of attachments per post so no pictures of our new friend.
All in all, a great time and good food - I wouldn't call it "cheap" but we'll definitely be going back for dinner.
