Smile Aruba dining report March 2008

Sailed from the states down island all the way to Aruba. Must say yall have some of the best restaurants. Really enjoyed Madame Janett's...fabulous food equal to any fine restaurant in New Orleans. Wishing I had some of that lobster ravioli right now! Thought the Flying Fishbone was better in the ambiance department than the culinary offerings..ditto for Papiemento, but worth the visit. Would skip the steak place in the Renaissance and head for Ruth's Chris' Steakhouse in the Marriott at Palm Beach. It was fabulous and being from the New Orleans area, I can attest that the menu items printed in red are authentic Creole dishes. The steak was top notch and the side dishes of gumbo, creamed spinach au gratin and au gratin potatoes were incredible. Driftwood was a good seafood restaurant. Iguana Joe's was a fun, casual spot to sip a beer and snack on some Mexican fare.

Made my reservations for Madame Janette and Ruth Chris' on line. Very easy and quick confirmations.

All in all, a fine dining island.
