Madame Janette had a wonderful variety of specials on their asparagus menu. It really was a treat. The fresh white asparagus really is amazing. I went with their pasta special which I will do my best to describe. While it may sound really rich it was in fact perfectly balanced. This dish had pasta and white asparagus in a cream sauce that had a hint of Gorgonzola. The pasta was topped with slices of herbed (garlic, basil, lime) breaded chicken. It was absolutely one of the best dishes I've ever tasted. If you are in Aruba for the asparagus festival at MJ's you will be one very fortunate diner.

i have photos on my phone of our dinners!

delicious and the asparagus were awesome.
3 of us had the tournedos la' ramon and peg had the pasta/chickenn/gorgonzola dish

all were presented beautifully and tasted magnificent.

dessert was obscenely rich and sinful.
pegmeister had the nutella dessert that was sinful (you are going to hell peg)
tom was good and had a bowl of ice cream with sauce.
paul will join peg in hell as he had a decadent piece of chocolate cake.

i had coffee and a 2 cookies (voortman) and a few spoons of paul's cake.
imagine me, the fatty, passing on the sinful desserts!!!

Different taste from green asparagus. It's a milder flavor, almost nutty. Before having it in Aruba I had only had it once and it was marinated so totally different from fresh. I just posted on the Boston chowhound board to see if anyone knew of any Boston restaurants serving it. May just have to plan a trip back to Aruba for next May!

perfect description of the taste peg.

cindy, i buy them year round at ALDIS , unfortunately they are in a jar but still good.

one of the odd side effects of asparagus...white or green is that it makes one's urine stink of asparagus.
    but the white asparagus..less so.

the publix stores should be carrying them this month (at least they did in mid may the last couple of years) for those of you that have publix.
