Barefoot

Any comments please. Does being seated on the beach, as opposed to under the palapa, become disturbing due to the pedestrian traffic on the beach?

We greatly enjoyed our dinner at Barefoot. Check the menu though to make sure there are items which interest you.

It is not necessarily for "meat and potatoes" type of eaters.

With that said, I did not notice any pedestrians on the beach, however, from what I understand there are sometimes distractions from Nikky Beach Club next door. We had a table overlooking the beach under the palapa and it was very very nice.

The seating under the palapa was very nice and comfortable with sand underfoot, to give you the impression of being on the beach.

Lisa,
We're wondering about your experiences at Carte Blanche and Soenchi's. Did you wind up going to either or both?

Carte Blanche does not permit children under 18 and we refuse to leave our 15 yo alone in a hotel room on vacation, even more so in a foreign country. But that is just us. The money we would have spent there on dinner instead went towards dives with Aruba Watersports for my dh and dd.

Soenchi I will detail more in my review. Very good food but we did not care for the open air location sandwiched between blaring music of the neighboring establishments. We were all disappointed by the "Tear Drop" dessert but again, there is a story behind it and I will go into more detail.

Lisa,
Too bad about Carte Blanche. I understand your reluctance. We'll review it when we get back and let you know. No kids with us this time!

So, the teardrop was disappointing, eh? It looks so good. Can't wait to read the review.

Welcome back.

Thanks. It was truly their loss. Dd is a much more adventurous eater than I. She had a duck appetizer AND entree at Soenchi's

I did not realize you were leaving so soon, so wrote the Soenchi part of my review tonight Soenchi's Aruban Cuisine
It is good incentive to put it in writing before I forget

Thumbs up Our Experience at Barefoot

Barefoot has a very nice upscale, but relaxed, barefoot atmosphere, the food was beautifully presented. Some tables overlook the beach; others are under a palapa overlooking it. The menu is not for everyone, but if you go with an open mind and if unsure, ask for sauces on the side, you should be able to find something to tickle your taste buds. Service was terrific, doting, but not overwhelming. My dh drinks a lot of water during dinner while in Aruba and his glass never once went empty here.

Appetizers-- Vanilla Skewered Scallops, Goat Cheese Medallions- cheese on roasted bell pepper, topped with red onion chutney & balsamic syrup, Two Tuna- Tuna tartar & tuna Carpaccio)

Entrees-- Caribbean Grouper- filet topped with mango cream cheese & served with a light spicy mango sauce, Romance of the Sea- Grouper, Snapper & Mahi Mahi, Grouper Special

Desserts-- Tiramisu & Grand Dessert- (Chef’s selection of different desserts

Did you like this entree? This is what I ordered last Sept. I had a great goat cheese salad but really did not like this entree at all. I thought the mango cream cheese was WAY too heavy for grouper and you couldn't taste the fish or the spicy mango sauce at all. Maybe they've re-worked the sauce since I've been there. I just remember thinking that they ruined a good fish with such a heavy sauce and I ended up scraping most of it off. Hope they've re-worked it....it sounded good to me at the time but was my one disappointing entree on that trip. Everyone else I was with that night enjoyed their entrees though.
