Barefoot: nice dinner no real wow factor

Okay maybe it was all the hype and my expectations were too high? Barefoot just didn't wow me at least as far as the food goes. My tenderloin was cooked to order as it should be and place on a swirl of mashed potato and mixed vegetables. The presentation didn't work. The vegetables made the tiny portion of mashed potato soupy. Service was pleasant although a little absent-minded (water glasses not refilled; no offer of a 2nd glass of wine and the forgotten tea). Dessert an apple strudel type thing had doughy crust with over melted ice cream. I would go back and give them another try but it definitely didn't make my top five.

I had a similar feeling when we were there as far as the ambiance. I think I just had different expectations because I see a lot of people comparing Barefoot and Passions. To me they were totally different, but will both be on our list to re-visit. As for our night at Barefoot, our service was good, but I could tell our waitress did not have a lot of experience. Our food was really good, we had a grouper dish. For dessert we had the sampler and it did not disappoint.
Not sure when, but we will be back

I forgot to mention that after all my fretting about them asking for a room number when reconfirming, they didn't ask for it when I called. One thing I really did like was the bread with olive tapenade that was offered before the meal.

Wish you had a better experience.... it's still on my list for this year and I really hope it lives up to all the 'wow' reviews I've seen!
