best Italian

Will be in Aruba next month, July, for a 2 week visit. Haven't been happy with the Italian restaurants we have eaten at and would like input on "poster's faves". We don't have an Italian background so we are open to opinions.

thanx -- bula

Try Gianni's - located across from the Radisson. Opened Jan. 12 with very good reviews.

I have not tried Gianni's yet so i cannot comment.
I have been to the others mentioned and still find them not great.......passable, but still not drop dead wonderful.

we have been happy with Alfredos. Not that it was outstanding.............it is just ok.............but at least their prices were pretty good IMO. This past May we ate at Fololis @ lacabana brc. Folioli's was pretty good........not outstanding.....,but pretty good! The pricing was excellent and I think we did not spend more than $45 for chicken parm w/ pasta and cesar salad.

IMO, the aruba restaurants just aren't focusing on good italian food. I am guessing the reasoning is.................because seafood and steak are really the #1 game in town.

Also too I have always found that the chicken parm and the red sauce at french steakhouse is EXCELLENT. (maybe now in the garden terrace restaurant)

Re:LaDolce Vita

How are the prices there?

Don't they have a bountiful salad bar as well?

Anyone have a menu that can be posted?

Thx as always in advance!

Over the years we have tried, I think, all except Gianni's. We have been disappointed with one thing or another such as food, service, price for what you got, bad table, etc.

That being said we do go back to Alfredo's if we want pasta. You get a good portion served HOT in a skillet with roasted garlic to spread on fresh bread for a reasonable price. It is beside the "Black Hog Saloon".

Italian restaurant opinions

Thank everyone -- from what has been posted everyone has a favorite and there seems to be no clear cut winner -- we'll pick one or two and try

thanx again -- Sr Bula

hI,
iN ITALIAN FOOD I WOULD RECOMENT YOU TRY SOLEMARE.
Gianni's i have heard very good comments of most friends that go there.
<The problem with most italian restaurants is that they try to hard to please turism (american) and forget the real esence iof italian food.
I have heard that hostaria da vitorio just changed his menu but its a very expensive restaurant.
Casa tua is very very good and they have the best ossobuco in aruba. ( because i dont make mine yet in my restaurant) and their pizza is very good. The only bad thing is that they are so full that the service is a little so but is ok.

And if you want something different drop by me (Tasca La Cascada) (www.panaderiadelcampo.com) we have the best and only lamb in the oven.
So if full of italian just go Portuguese!!

Personally after myself my favorite and my wife`s papiamento restaurant. Gozy elegant and good service also romantic. Not so cheap.
