Charlies Bar San Nicolas

HI,
I've read mixed reviews about Charlies Bar in San Nicolas. Any opinions on visiting this bar?

You've got to go once. Cold beer, not impressed with the food.

If you're headed to Baby Beach, Charlie's is a fun place to stop but it's a long drive from Palm Beach and Eagle Beach just for a cold beer. It a real throwback to Aruba when the oil refinery was cranking. The bar is terrific and the people are lot's of fun to hang with for a bit. The negatives are that the food is only ok and the menu is limited and don't forget that they accept cash only-there are some ATM's nearby.

Thumbs up

We stop at Charlie's every trip trip to Aruba. Yes its a bit pricey but the shrimp is fantastic.( With or without the hot sauce ). The bartenders are characters and the scenery is unbelievable. You need to be a bit open minded, but you'll have a lot of laughs.
Have a great time.

This is how I reviewed our visit to Charlies a week ago.

"Lunch what at Charlie’s Bar in San Nicolas. We were warned about this being a tourist trap. I had Tenderloin and my wife had Shrimps. Tenderloin was very average, at best, but the Shrimps was actually quite good. It may be a tourist trap but we found the place okay and the mood was good there."

We'll visit it again, next year in a Aruba

Charlie's Bar does accept credit cards these days.

Here's a pair of links to a video and photo of the joint:

and

Don't worry about the "tourist trap" part. That's a friendly joke. The drinks are cheaper than most of the hotel and beach bars.
