Cheap & Local Dining

Hi All!

I am going to be in Aruba from July 10 - 17, and I was wondering if anyone knew of some cheap local resturants that my boyfriend and I can go to. We are trying to limit ourselves to only two dinners at nice resturants (one will definetly be Simply Fish)- the rest of the week we will cook at the hotel or find some quick, cheap resturant with good food.

I have never been to Aruba --- or any island for that matter, and I am very excited! My boyfriend has been before; but after searching this forum - everyone is so knowledgable, your advice is priceless! Any ideas or suggestions on how to save a few bucks during the week on eating would really help. We have been saving for this trip for a few months now, but the closer the date gets we are a bit worried about money. We would rather spend smart all week, then get to the middle of the week and have to eat PB&J the last 3 days of vacation!

280 hours till i'm sitting on the beach !~!

If you have a care rental, then some of the places i am suggesting will be very doable.
Some by bus or walking distance.

If you have to take a taxi, then what you'd be saving on an inexpensive dinner may be taken up with a round trip taxi fare.

salt n pepper @ high rise area. 2 folks can eat nicely for under $35
Pizza bobs @ costa linda area/lo rise area 2 folks can eat for under $30
old fisherman downtown 2 folks can eat for under $45
amadeus @ the inland area on the way to paradera 2 folks can eat for under $50
B55 down past the airport 2 folks can eat for under $35
Iguana Joes downtown 2 folks can eat for under $40
Paddock downtown 2 folks can eat for under $40
Buccaneer inland off of palm beach rd...2 folks for less than $50
tulip at lo rise area 2 folks can eat for less than $50

imo simply fish is way overpriced and wacky wahoo has much better fish at less than $50 for 2

add booze to any of these meals and all bets are off.

there will be many many more suggestions i am sure.

Mulligans at Divi Village has good food that is reasonably priced. You can check out the menu on their website. Also, some of the pool bars serve food at cheap prices. Where are you staying?

Also, we ate at Simply Fish in Feb. and loved it. It was one of the highlights of our trip.

You guys are the best! Such great suggestions, Andrea J. I'm going to print your reply out and pack it in my suitcase with addresses. Ahh-ruba, great idea!!

Hatteras, we are staying at the Marriot Surf Club with a bunch of my boyfriends family - about 10 people, we are so excited... I am counting down the hours!! I have a feeling i'm going to never want to leave, especially after reading the different threads on this forum... I'm getting giddy just thinking about it!

After a fantastic day on the beach it is always fun to head out to one of the great Aruba restaurants. There are so many different types of food and ranges of restaurants on the island that you will not have enough days to try them all - unless you're lucky enough have a few weeks on the island. As far as casual food near the Surf Club, we have always liked Casa Tua for pizza and relatively cheap food. Smokey Joe's is also close by and has good ribs and burgers and is not too expensive. Cafe Rembrandt is also close by and has some good "Dutch bar" food and is reasonably priced. And since you are in a timeshare you will have a refrigerator, etc and can buy some food, wine, cheese as people have suggested and there are grills at the Surf Club if you feel like throwing something on the bbq.

We are arriving in Aruba and staying at the Surf club in 6 days and can't waiit to get there! We made reservations for 3 dinners at Amadeus, Madame Janette's, and Pincho's and will decide on the other nights while we are there as my wife likes to have some spontaneity to the trip .

Dreaming about the island all week while I'm supposed to be working and counting down the final few days before we "hit the island".

Cafe Rembrandt (as mentioned above) has great food and reasonable prices. We went there twice on our last visit!
As Andrea said, add drinks and all bets are off LOL
